OUR COMMITMENT

Occupational Health and Safety

There is no obligation more paramount than the safety of employees and the community in which we are located. Our internal health and safety manuals are both detailed and current.
Austech Chemicals ensures that compulsory and regular training is undertaken for all of our employees regardless of their position and role within the business.

Further we believe that strict adherence to health and safety guidelines will greatly assist in maintaining the highest quality standards

Aside from the required obligations prescribed by law Austech Chemicals is actively striving to go further and ensure that our facility continues to be one that is identified as leading the industry rather than following.  We feel it is in both our interests and that of our customers for health and safety to be pegged to the highest standards.  Our housekeeping standards are very high and the one comment we hear time and again is how neat, clean and tidy our facility is.

We welcome any scrutiny of our occupational health and safety procedures by our customers and should you wish to review our systems please contact Nicholas Baxter for a suitable time to undertake this exercise.

Our Environmental Record

Austech Chemicals places environmental concerns as our highest priority. Management and staff are acutely aware of the importance and uniqueness of the Australian environment and we see its protection being of paramount value to the community.  Being located in Narangba Industrial Estate means that we receive quarterly Caboolture Council and EPA inspections and twice yearly Chem Services inspections.

Our facility is completely bunded and we take extreme care to ensure that none of our day to day procedures impact in a negative way on our surrounds.  The company maintains an ongoing training program for all employees to ensure that we always comply with the industries best practices.  We regularly attend training programs and seminars to ensure that we are always at the cutting edge of the best systems of manufacturing and handling in our industry.

Over the coming months and year the management of Austech intends to install and commission photovoltaic solar electricity for the offices and rain water harvesting for our input water.

Austech’s previous managing director, Mr. Brian Umlauft served on several committees to assist with the ongoing improvement to the management of the state’s chemical industry.  If you wish to receive further information on our training and procedures please do not hesitate to contact us.

Our Policy on Climate Change

The scientific evidence provided by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), a body created by the United Nations and the World Meteorological Organisation, concludes that climate change is linked largely to the emissions of greenhouse gases caused by human activity, from the burning of fossil fuels, and deforestation. While there remains uncertainty regarding the severity of impacts, we believe that it is appropriate to adopt a precautionary approach to climate protection by working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions today.

Austech Chemicals will assume a proactive role in the automotive chemical processing industry to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions as described below. We believe we cannot accomplish significant reductions alone; we need the support of our customers, suppliers, as well as government policy that establishes certainty for stakeholders and allows significant investments in greenhouse gas mitigation.

Austech Chemicals will calculate and annually report the aggregate greenhouse gas emissions from our operations beginning in 2008 and as part of our practice of expanding Austech Chemicals we aim to invest in renewable energy generation projects and will continue to consider other investments in profitable renewable energy generation and technology.
